Coding Camp in Kaitaia

In August, The Moko Mobile Innovation Hub partnered with NZ Company, Code Avengers to present a Coding Camp for rangatahi in the Far North in Kaitaia. Rangatahi from around the Far North took the opportunity to be introduced to coding, where they learnt to build websites and games, facilitated by Ilana Signal from Code Avengers.  Coding is about applied problem solving through logical, critical and creative thinking.

Rangatahi worked both individually, and in teams to solve challenges which helped to promote teamwork, tolerance and communication skills.  The weekend also helped to make subjects like Maths relevant and fun in completely new ways, and fostered literacy skills by training rangatahi to focus and pay attention to detail.
